Engaging education and quality care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years

Our Procedures

At Blinky Belle Preschool, we understand that the decision to choose childcare can be a challenging one, so we are here to offer as much support and information as we can. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to contact us or speak to our Centre Director, Dee.

Health and Safety

In the event of an incident, an incident/accident trauma form will be completely by a staff member, and your child’s Authorised Person and/or Emergency Contact contacted. In emergency situations, an ambulance will be called immediately.

If your child has recently suffered from a contagious on contractible illness, a specific exclusion period may apply and an authorised medical clearance provided before your child returns to care. If your child starts showing symptoms of an illness in our care, we will contact the Authorised Person and/or Emergency Contact, and in some cases your child may need to be collected.

If your child unexpectedly develops a high temperature (38 degrees or higher), we will contact the Authorised Person and/or Emergency Contact to arrange for your child to be collected as soon as possible. If the nominated person has given permission on the Enrolment Application for the administration of paracetamol and it is confirmed verbally, we can administer a single dose. If the child cannot be collected quickly, an ambulance may be called to ensure the wellbeing of your child.

If your child suffers from asthma or any allergies, an Action Plan will be completed in consultation with you and your child’s doctor. Any associated medications will require a Medication Form to be completed.

Medications

Any medication your child requires must be stated on the enrolment form, which is to be signed by an Authorised Person. Medications must be clearly marked with your child’s name, the name of the medication and the dosage clearly state on the pharmacist’s label. Any medications should be given directly to a team member upon arrival at our Centre, so that it can be stored in a secure location. We do not administer any non-prescribed medications other than paracetamol if children have a high temperature — this will require approval on the enrolment form.

Their First Day

We recommend you and your child visit us at the Centre before they start so that you both feel confident and comfortable with the routines and environment. When you arrive for your child’s first day, you will be greeted by one of our team, who will show you to your child’s room and get them settled in. We encourage you to allow some extra time on the first day to sign in and put belongings away.

When it’s time to go, let your child know that you are leaving and when you will be back. To increase their feelings of safety, let them bring in something they love from home such as a blanket or teddy. We will give you a call during the day to let you know how everything is going, but you can also feel free to call us at any time as well.

Day-to-Day

Blinky Belle Preschool takes the security and safety of your child very seriously. Therefore, the Authorised and/or Emergency Contact person will be asked to present photo ID when collecting a child for the first time, and sign in and out at all times after that. This is done electronically via a mobile phone and pin number.

If you arrive after the closing time of the centre to collect your child, you will be required to pay the staff member still at the centre for their time. The charge is $5 per minute per child and this is not subsidised by the Child Care Subsidy.

To assist us with toilet training, we encourage you to dress your child in clothing that will make it easy for your child to go to the toilet. To allow them to fully explore their environment, we also encourage clothing that allows them to get dirty and messy without worry!
